- <p> DEATH REVEALED. Of ALIX GRES, 89, celebrated Parisian fashion
- designer whose work attracted devotees on the order of Jacqueline
- Kennedy and Grace Kelly; in Paris. Mme. Gres, as she was universally
- known in couture, originally trained as a sculptor--an influence
- apparent in her trademark Grecian draped gowns. Though she died
- in the fall of 1993, her daughter Anne had carefully kept the
- death a secret for 13 months out of pique that her mother's
- work had--in Anne's view--been ignored in recent years.
